About Down syndrome

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately one in every 772 babies in the United States is born with Down syndrome. For most people, each cell in the body has 23 pairs of chromosomes. Sometimes, during cell division, an extra copy of the 21st chromosome is present.  This 3rd copy of the 21st chromosome results in a Down syndrome diagnosis.

Individuals with Down syndrome, have unique personalities and interests, just like everyone else!  They can attend school, play sports, make art, play instruments, hold jobs and even own businesses!

As the story of 321 Juice shows, given the opportunity, individuals with Down syndrome live full, successful, meaningful lives. Take a moment to get to know them, you will be enriched!
